Winston R-6 returned to school on Wednesday, Aug. 18, with several new teachers on staff.

Meagan Grooms

Meagan Grooms will teach special education K-12 at Winston. She was born and raised in Marceline where she went to high school. She received her B.S. degree in administration from Missouri Western State University. She obtained her master’s of arts in teaching science from Central Missouri State University. She taught at Breckenridge R-1 for three years. She and her husband Brandon have a son, Ledger Grooms, 19 months. She is due with a baby girl, Aselyn, on Nov. 21.

Nicole Weis

Nicole Weis will be guidance counselor for K-12 at Winston. She was born and raised in St. Joseph and obtained her undergraduate degree at Missouri Western. She received her graduate degree in guidance counseling from Northwest Missouri State University. She previously taught physical education for three years. She and her husband Mark have a daughter, Madyson, 3.

Monica Bonderer

Monica Bonderer will be the school nurse at Winston. She was born and raised in Jamesport and went to high school at Tri-County R-7. She received her degree in nursing from North Central Missouri College. She and her husband Tom have three children, Mikah, 12, Jillian, 5, and Blake, 18 months.

Nathaniel Wehmeyer

Nathaniel Wehmeyer will teach music at Winston. He was born and raised in Rosebud. He graduated from high school at Gasconade County R-2 in Owensville. He went to college at Missouri Western State University, graduating in December 2009. His degree is in K-12 instrumental music with a percussion performance emphasis. He student taught at Hyde Elementary, Spring Garden Middle School and Benton High School in St. Joseph. He is not married, but he has a girlfriend named Gretchen.

Sue Bridgman

Sue Bridgman is the new math teacher at Winston. She will teach seventh grade math, and Algebra 1, 2 and 3. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, she also lived in Indiana and St. Charles, Mo. She graduated from St. Charles High School and attended college at Truman State and Northwest Missouri State University. She previously taught at Maysville, North Daviess and Osborn.

Sue and her husband Kyle have two children. Laura, 18, is a freshman at Hannibal LaGrange College, and Allison is 12.
