Graveside service and interment for Sanford Williams with full military honors was held Friday, Aug. 13, at Ashland Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gladden-Stamey Chapel, St. Joseph. Memorial donations are requested to Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center c/o voluntary services.

Sanford R. Williams, 93, St. Joseph, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at the V.A. Medical Center, Leavenworth, Kan.
He was born on May 19, 1917, in Jamesport, to the late Frank and Blanche (Miller) Williams.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Kansas University, Lawrence, Kan.
Sanford served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was an electrical engineer for 17 years at Whitaker Cable, and later with the City of St. Joseph.
Sanford married Gladys June (Dyson) on Feb. 8, 1941, in St. Joseph, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 2008.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Garland Williams.
Sanford was of the Methodist faith, a KU alumnus, and a member of the R.C. Airplane Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheri Jones, St. Joseph; and two grandchildren.
