Due to additional financial responsibilities, slow collection of accounts receivables, and added costs related to new contracts, the regional jail again transferred additional funds from the sales tax account to the jail’s operating account.

The aging report as of July 30 showed an outstanding balance of $36,261.55 due to the jail, according to minutes from the July 30 meeting of the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail Board.

Housing for Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs and Sugar Creek is going well.

Marco Tapia of Securus (Evercom) discussed the prisoner phone systems.

Details for county deputies to work part time at the jail will be worked out between the jail’s administrator and the county sheriffs.

The hiring of an investigator was discussed.

Next meeting is at 10 a.m. on Aug. 27.

The financial report, aging report and budget report were approved as given by David Tolen, budget manager.

Sales tax income of $80,248 was reported for the month of June. Year-to-date on sales tax income is $418,808.99. Sales tax checking account has $220,880.90 in the account with a CD of $800,000, $479,593.18 and $403,867.95 at BTC Bank for a total of $1,904,342.03 in sales tax funds.

The jail’s operating account balance was $72,669.49.

The commissary grossed $16,517.25. Swanson’s income was $217.25.

Since Jan. 1, Daviess County is reported to have saved $175,290 and DeKalb has saved $303,840 on inmate housing.
