Vital to achieving this goal is securing gainful employment that allows individuals to earn a living wage, lessen their dependence on assistance programs, and become contributing members of the workforce. The Employment and Training department at GHCAA has the primary focus of preparing youth and adults for the workforce and assisting individuals towards achieving the career goals. The programs offered through E&T strive to improve an individual’s employability by building their career knowledge, providing opportunities to develop/increase skills, and providing the support and motivation needed as people work towards their employment goals.

This department currently operates several programs, including the Workforce Investment Act Program, the Community Work Support Project, and the Missouri Work Assistance Program. The Employment & Training department of GHCAA also provides a number of valuable services such as resume writing, interview assistance, Interest and Aptitude assessments, mentoring, and financial assistance for training, educational materials, transportation, and childcare.

Our experienced staff actively utilizes these resources as they work with numerous people within our nine-county service area. Currently, we are busy with two summer youth employment programs that have put nearly 50 young adults to work across the Green Hills region. These programs provide an excellent opportunity for youth to earn income and develop job experience, while also assisting local businesses and organizations by supplying labor. We are also striving to move individuals off of state assistance programs and into the workforce through our Missouri Work Assistance and Community Work Support programs. Both of these programs are designed to provide assistance with transportation expenses, car repairs, and other work-related costs. By reducing these barriers to employment and providing continued support and guidance, over 20 individuals have successfully obtained employment within the past nine months. By providing support and resources to individuals, we are working to make a positive impact on the workforce and build vibrant communities with the Green Hills area.
