Roberta was born May 2, 1916, to Arthur and Ora (Atkinson) Moorshead in Breckenridge, Missouri. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1935. Following graduation, Roberta moved to Kansas City where she worked various jobs including Lake City Ammunition, a leather factory, and also was a nanny to a set of twins. She later married Russell W. Adee in Kansas City, where they made their home. The couple began working in the construction industry, later co-owning a trucking company and relocated to Rock Springs, Wy., where they hauled supplies and built roads in Costa Rica and the US. Roberta drove a truck, worked in a gift shop and later became a bookkeeper for an asphalt company for several years, where she retired. After retiring, she moved to Jameson to be near her family.

Roberta had a passion for traveling and would bring back gifts from each place she visited. She loved animals and it was not unusual for her to travel with her dogs, cats and birds. Roberta was very fashion minded and loved to accessorize. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing handwork, embroidery and crocheting, making several afghans for family. Roberta enjoyed working outside, whether it be mowing or flower gardening; she took great pride in being independent and staying in shape. She loved the beach and enjoyed spending winters in Texas for over twenty years. She also was well-known for her famous jello fruit salad, and would take it to all family gatherings. Roberta was a member of the Jameson First Baptist Church, the Jameson Lion’s Club and the Red Hat Society while wintering in Texas. She was a fun-loving, family oriented woman that lived her life with great spirit and energy who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Roberta is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Charles and Vernon Moorshead and a sister, Frances Brewer.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Leota (Bill) Snyder of Jameson, Mo., Keith (Shirley) Moorshead of Kansas City, Mo., Jeanie (Gerald) Soden of Lampe, Mo., Vernetta (Dennis) McDonald and Verna K. (Jim) Talbot, all of St. Joseph, Mo., Vernon Lee (Carla) Moorshead of Princeton, Tex., and Frances Schoolcraft of Clarendon, Tex. Also, Elaine (Steve) Bohannon, Bob (Patty) Adkison and Steve (Madelynn) Adkison, all of Jameson, Mo., and many, many third and fourth generation nieces and nephews.
