The "Rapture in Misery" (RIM) 6/12 mountain bike race will return to Crowder State Park on Saturday, Aug. 14. This will be the second year that Crowder will serve as the host trail system for the event.
RIM will have categories for solo riders and also teams for both the six and 12 hour format. Racers will start at noon with six-hours racers finishing at 6 p.m. Twelve-hour racers will race until midnight.
Crowder’s "Camp Grand River" will serve as the venue area and will be used for registration, as well as the start and finish for each lap. The race loop will be approximately nine miles and will use the River Forks Trail, Tall Oaks Trail, Steep Creek Connector, Northwest Passage and a section of the South Thompson Trail. Trail users in the park should be prepared to meet cyclists on the listed trails and park roads on both Friday and Saturday.
Rapture in Misery is being promoted by Heartland Race Promotions and the Green Hills Trail Association and serves as a fund raiser for the GHTA.
Registration for the event runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Please access the Heartland Racing website at www.heartlandrace.com for all detailed information concerning official RIM rules, facilities, camping, amenities, course map and information.
All racers must wear helmets. Last year’s event drew 180 racers from five states.
