Patricia J. (Pat) Jefferson, 81, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 at her home in Gallatin. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Mount Ayr Cemetery in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Senior Citizens Center.

Pat was born Nov. 28, 1928, to James and Florence (Jarvis) Richmond in Grant City, Mo. Her family moved a year later to Mount Ayr, Iowa, where she graduated high school in 1946. Following graduation, she moved to Des Moines, Iowa and was employed at the State of Iowa Welfare Department as a secretary. Pat was united in marriage L.D. Jefferson on Nov. 17, 1950

in Mount Ayr, Iowa. The couple moved to Cameron, Mo. and lived there the next eight years. In 1958, they moved to Gallatin, Mo., where Pat was the secretary at the Gallatin Elementary School for Covel D. Searcy. She continued working at the school for several years before she went to work for Judge Charles Brandom as his probate clerk. The couple moved back to

Cameron for a few years before relocating to St. Joseph, Mo. where they lived for 10 years. During that time, Pat was employed at banks in both Cameron and St. Joseph where she served as a secretary. In 1984, they returned to Gallatin to enjoy retirement and becoming part of the community once again.

Pat was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in St. Joseph, Mo. and attended the Presbyterian Church in Gallatin for many years, where she enjoyed fellowship with her church family. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Gallatin Extension Club and was an avid bridge player with three local clubs. She looked forward to the weekly gatherings with her bridge partners. Pat had a passion for reading, a hobby she dearly loved. She was committed to her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Pat was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Lawrence D. Jefferson of the home; son: Denney (Bobbie) Jefferson of Warrensburg, Mo.; daughter: Cynthia Fuller of Dusseldorf, Germany; brothers: Donald (Katherine) Richmond of Independence, MO, Phillip (Joyce) Richmond of Kearney, Mo.; grandchildren; Chelsea (Andrew) Edwards, San Diego, Calif., Brian Jefferson Warrensburg, Mo., Courtney Kucera, Enid, Okla., Kendal Fuller, Kenton Fuller and Felicia Fuller, all of Lincoln, Neb.; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Mikyla Kucera of Lincoln, Neb., numerous nieces and nephews.
