Chief Richards of the Gallatin Police Department announced that as of Aug. 1 the "WE TIP" program went online in Gallatin.
"WE TIP" was founded in1972 as a citizen’s self-help group to eliminate drug dealers and quickly expanded to take information on all major crimes. The success of the program is due to the involvement of the community and the individuals ready to take their community’s back from the criminals. WE TIP offers rewards of up to $1,000 when information received leads to the arrest and conviction of an individual.
The "WE TIP" hotline is available to report any type of crime in an anonymous way. It is toll-free and available 24 hours/day. Professional bilingual hotline operators are also available to receive tips. Most importantly all calls are anonymous and no names are ever given.
"WE TIP is an important tool to help in the fight against drugs, robbery, vandalism, violence and weapons in community", said Chief Richards "It gives everyone the power to take an active role in protecting our community."
You can call the "WE TIP" hotline at 1-800-782-7463 (1-800-78-CRIME) to report a crime or if you hear that a crime will be taking place. You can also log onto www.wetip.com to report crimes.
