Funeral services for Roger Hess were held Aug. 2 at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was in the Mt. Ayr Cemetery near Altamont. Memorial contributions may be made to Olive Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.

Roger E. Hess, 79, Altamont, died July 29, 2010, at Cameron Regional Medical Center. Roger was born April 8, 1931, to Philip and Evangeline (King) Hess in Jamesport.
Following graduation, Roger worked on the family farm where they raised sheep and cattle. He enlisted in the Navy in February 1952, where he served four years as a Seabee in the Korean War. After returning home, Roger worked on the family farm where they custom cut silage around the country. He was later employed by Jack Reed as a bulldozer operator helping to build Lake Viking, and the Winston and Cameron Truck Stops.
Roger was married to Delores Brown on Jan. 9, 1966, in Altamont. She preceded him in death in 2008. The couple made their home on the family farm, west of Gallatin. Roger continued working as a bulldozer operator with Burdick construction for 27 years.
He was a member of the Altamont Christian Church.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marjorie Hess.
Survivors include one son, Dale Hess of Gallatin; one brother, Kenneth Hess of Rochester, Minn.; and two grandchildren.
