County Commission
James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, reported that the culverts in Benton Township will be completed this week due to rainy conditions last week.
Bills were audited and paid.
The commission reviewed the past six months of the Access II minutes which were submitted July 21.
The commission reviewed the clerk’s reports comparing revenues and expenses to last year’s numbers. The valuation for the county was also reported to be $104,852,037, a 2% increase in new construction.
A reporter from the Cameron newspaper interviewed the commissioners regarding the county’s financial condition. The commissioners reported that things are stable.
The commission reviewed bids received for repairs at the property at 611 W. Johnson. No action was taken at this time. The bids were forwarded to the certified industrial hygienist for review.
The commission inspected a drainage problem at the property at 609 South Main. The bridge crew will make repairs. They also inspected roads, bridges and brush in Lincoln and Monroe Townships.

Sheriff’s Office
David Lewis, 39, Jamesport, was arrested July 24 for felony DWI and no valid license. He is being held on $35,000 bond.
Manuel Canchola, 47, Des Moines, Iowa, was arrested July 21 for felony DWI, no valid license and two infractions. He is being held on $35,000 bond.
Cesar Estrada Lopez, 28, Des Moines, was charged July 21 with probation violations on an original charge of felony possession of controlled substance. Bond was denied.
Jermane Kearney, 23, International Falls, Minn., was charged July 23 with probation violations on an original charge of felony possession of controlled substance. Bond was denied.
Johnny McFadden, 21, Des Moines, Iowa, was arrested July 22 for misdemeanor no valid license. He posted $500 bond.
Jason Foster, 36, Des Moines, Iowa, was charged July 26 with misdemeanor DWI and no valid license. He is being held on $1,000 bond.
Terry Pullen, 50, Maysville, was arrested July 26 on probation violations for misdemeanor non-support. Bond was denied.
Circuit Court
Before Judge Daniel Chadwick on July 21, Steven Keith Siegel’s petition to set aside a four-year sentence for felony non-support was granted. Siegel’s probation had been revoked and a four-year sentence was executed on July 17, 2009. Siegel had received consecutive sentences of four years on two charges of non-support. He remains incarcerated on one of the charges.
Aurelio J. Ortiz plead guilty to possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver, class B felony, and operating motor vehicle without license, class A misdemeanor, based on a plea agreement. The sentence assessment report was waived. He was sentenced to eight years incarceration in the Department of Corrections on the first count, to run concurrently with 30 days in the regional jail on the second count, with credit for time served.
A warrant was issued for Jermane L. Kearney, who failed to appear for a probation violation hearing on a charge of possession of controlled substance.
Pattonsburg School District R-II vs. Ronald G. Deshon was dismissed without prejudice on July 21.
Cases bound over from the Associate Division to the Circuit Court: State vs. Scott A. Chaney, DWI aggravated offender, class C felony; assault on law enforcement officer third degree, class A misdemeanor; no valid license, class A misdemeanor; careless and imprudent driving, class B misdemeanor;
State vs. Shane E. Ott, Cameron, assault first degree, class A felony; armed criminal action; three counts of discharging firearm from vehicle, class B felony.
