A St. Joseph man was fatally injured in a two vehicle accident about one mile east of Hamilton at 6:10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14.

According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened as Dale Hazzard, 38, Gallatin, was southbound on Spring Hill Road and Michael Hart, 44, St. Joseph, was eastbound on Hwy. 36. Hazzard, driving a 1995 Volvo tractor trailer, pulled into the path of Hart, who was driving a 1989 Chevrolet van. The Hart vehicle struck the Hazzard vehicle in the rear right side. Both vehicles came to rest entangled on Spring Hill Road.
Mr. Hart was pronounced dead at the scene by Caldwell County Coroner Dana Brown.
The accident was investigated by Trp. J.R. Johnson, Sgt. H.A. Sears and Sgt. G.Q. Billings, assisted by Trp. J.C. Gilliland, Commercial Vehicle Officer (CVO) M.T. White, Hamilton Police Department, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Depart and Caldwell County First Responders.
