Harley (Nic) Green, 83, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at his home in Gallatin. Family visitation will be held 6-8 pm, Wednesday evening, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin, where friends may call after 11 am. Services will be held at 11 am, Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Gallatin or the Church of the Nazarene in Kingston in care of the funeral home.

Nic was born Aug. 14, 1926, to Harvey L. and Nannie B. (Nichols) Green on the family farm south of Gallatin. He attended country school and graduated from Ruskin Heights in Kansas City. Nic served in the US Army during World War II where he was stationed in Europe. Upon his return back to the States he attended the Kansas City Business College. Nic was united in marriage to Dorothy Charlene Reynolds in 1954; she preceded him in death in 1991. In 1959, the couple bought a farm near Kingston, Mo. Nic was employed at the Folgers Coffee Company for 14 years and later worked at the Nazarene Publishing House in Kansas City for over 12 years. He enjoyed dealing in antiques and opened his own shop in Kearney in 1977. Nic was an accomplished auctioneer and worked with Eddie Pickett for over 20 years. He was able to combine his talent with his humor in order to get the item sold. Nic was united in marriage to Roberta Eckelberry, Feb. 14, 1993, in Gallatin, where they made their home.
Nic was a member of the Kingston Church of the Nazarene and after moving to Gallatin he became a member of the First Baptist Church, where he made deep and lasting relationships. Nic never met a stranger and could strike up conversation with anyone. He was an inspiration to many and his devotion to his family, friends and community will be sadly missed by all.
Nic was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, John, Ezra and James.
Nic is survived by his wife Roberta of the home; children, William Green and wife Judy of Leavenworth, Kan., Susan Green of Crystal City, Mo., Rebecca Green of St. Louis, Mo., Jim Green of St. Joseph, Mo., John Green of Springfield, Mo., step-daughters, Linda Grooms of Hamilton, Mo., and DeLane Milne and husband Bob of Fairfax, Va.; sister, Hazel Davis and husband Charles of Republic, Mo.; brother, Frank Green of Kansas City, Mo. Nic has three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, five step-grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren.
