May is National Community Action Month. This year, Green Hills Community Action Agency and Community Action Agencies all across the country, will celebrate their history of partnering with other organizations to address poverty related issues in their communities.

Since the inception of Green Hills Community Action Agency in 1964, the action agencies have established and maintained a variety of partnerships with other community-based organizations within their wide service area. During these current difficult economic times, those partnerships have been key in helping low-income individuals and families weather the storm.
The national office of the Community Action Partnership designates May as National Community Action Month to recognize the work of Community Action Agencies that are fighting poverty on the local level. Each year, Community Action Agencies help over 13 million Americans escape poverty and achieve financial stability through programs such as job training, financial planning, energy services, and housing assistance and repair.
