On May 8, letter carriers from the Gallatin Post Office joined the nation’s largest single day campaign to help Stamp Out Hunger! for Second Harvest Community Food Bank.
Area citizens left 600 pounds of non-perishable food items at their mail boxes to be picked up. In addition, patrons of Dungy’s Market contributed canned goods and the grocery store matched their amount, to add up to about a grocery cart full of food. Dungy’s held the food drive during the store’s five-year anniversary sale. Second Harvest Community Food Bank provides food assistance for food pantries, food kitchens, crisis centers, shelters and other nonprofit organizations.
