Dave Malone with DeWaay Financial discussed a lease-purchase transaction after it was read twice to the Gallatin Board of Aldermen during their regular meeting held May 10.

The ordinance authorizes the city to enter into a lease purchase transaction, the proceeds of which will be used to prepay outstanding certificates of participation which were used to pay the costs of acquiring, constructing and installing improvements to the city’s electric system, and to approve the execution of certain documents in connection therewith.
Public comments were made regarding the Gallatin Sale Barn.
Police Chief Mark Richards submitted a report on activity from April 26 to May 10 with the following reports taken and tickets given: one property damage; three animal control; two peace disturbance; one check welfare; one vehicle lock-outs; one no tail lights; one no city sales license; four stealing; one lost property; one medical assist; one stalking; one warrant arrest; three speeding. There is one dog in the pound.
Chief Richards also reported on the activity of the departments dealing with code violations. Seventeen code violation notices were given out last week. Violations range from tall grass to unsafe buildings.
Bills in the amount of $104,895.22 were approved for payment.
During old business the board discussed the lighting at the power plant and conducting tests on old electric meters.
During new business, discussion was held on the financial review.
Comments by aldermen were made regarding various drainage issues around town and on residential wind turbines.
The mayor commented on the sidewalk improvements around the square which was completed by the business owners.

Present were Mayor Barb Ballew, aldermen John Whitfield, Dan Lockridge, Carol Walker, Steve Evans; City Administrator Zac Johnson, and Sharon Berten. City Clerk Autumn Acree and Police Chief Mark Richards were absent.
