Explosion at Maysville water plant

An explosion occurred at the water plant in Maysville at approximately 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 11. Details are sketchy at this time, but apparently a chemical leak at the plant prompted an evacuation of the area near the plant.

"There was a huge explosion," said a witness who works at a nearby business. "Something at the water plant exploded big time. It scared us. It was really loud. There was smoke and then a series of other little popping noises. It’s quite a deal going on." No injuries have been reported. The county fire department and Region H Hazmat are at the scene.
