Susan Ann Aulgur 79 of Gallatin passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, at the United Methodist Church in Gallatin. The family will be receiving friends and guests at their home in Gallatin. Friends may also call after 12 noon Sunday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin United Methodist Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.

Susan Ann was born Aug. 7, 1930 to Harfield and Mary Frances (Osborn) Davis in St. Joseph, Mo. She graduated from Gallatin High School in 1948 and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo. for two years. Susan Ann was united in marriage to Bob Aulgur Sept. 17, 1950 in Gallatin. The couple moved to Alabama while Bob was in the service. They returned to Kansas City in 1953 while Bob attended the UMKC School of Pharmacy. In 1956 the couple moved back to Gallatin where they lived the rest of their married life. Bob joined the family owned D. H. Davis Drug Company as a co-owner and pharmacist and Susan Ann was a homemaker, taking care of their children and becoming part of the community. Susan Ann was committed to her family, giving them the support to achieve their highest potential.
Susan Ann was a life long devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Gallatin where she served on the administrative board, president of the United Methodist Women, worked with the Methodist Youth Fellowship, Loyalty Circle, and taught Sunday School. For many years she served as a delegate to the Methodist Conference. She delighted in serving her church in any capacity and enjoyed the fellowship she shared there. In 1950, Susan Ann became a member of the Chapter BQ PEO Sisterhood where she made deep and lasting relationships. She was a big supporter of the Gallatin High School Music Department and especially enjoyed helping local students attend band camp. She proudly served on the board of the Davis-Aulgur Family Foundation where she was able to make contributions to a number of civic charitable and educational causes throughout Daviess County. Susan Ann was an avid collector of Santa Clauses and had pieces from all over the world; Christmas was always a special time at the Aulgur home. She loved and supported all young people, especially her grandchildren. Susan Ann enjoyed life, always had a smile on her face, and a compassionate spirit that made her an inspiration to all who knew her. Susan Ann was a kind and gentle lady who loved spending time with her family and friends; she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years Bob Aulgur of the home, son Bob Aulgur and wife Linda of Columbia, daughter, Ann Everly and husband Mark of Gallatin, grandchildren, David Aulgur and Aaron Everly, both of Columbia, Kathryn Everly of Gallatin, Heather and Graham McKay both of Columbia, and two great grandchildren. Susan Ann is also survived by special family members Kathy Hamilton and husband Chuck Meade and their children Elizabeth and Brendan all of Tacoma WA. and Bill and Georgia Davis and their family of Rolling Hills Estate, CA.
