It was delivered last Saturday from Johns Mid-America out of Rogersville. The truck is an update from a 1971 International. The truck holds 755 gallons. It has a five man cab and is equipped with two new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) seats and has compartments for four more.

There is a generator on board the truck and it is also equipped with large halogen lights. The fire department also purchased the jaws-of-life. The truck is pump tested, which will help lower the cost of insurance.

"We’ve gone from a Volkswagon to a Cadillac," said Chief Youngs, He added that the truck is much easier to run than the previous one.

The Coffey Fire Department has to carry water because the city’s water supply and water pressure is so low, Chief Youngs said. However, water is available by hooking into the Harrison County Public Water Supply south of town. Coffey Fire is also in line to get a tanker from the Missouri Department of Conservation soon. With that tanker, the department will be able to get to out-of-town water, for instance, from a pond.

Coffey Fire has a 12-man all-volunteer crew. Some of the members also serve on the board. Two of the members are First Responders and one is an EMT. Pictured, left to right, are Mike Youngs, fire chief, Lee Courter, EMT, and Jeff Stevens, first responder.
