If you watched the NCAA Basketball Tournament last week you may have seen a GHS graduate flash you on the screen now and then. Eric Holt, 45, a baggage handler for Southwest Airlines in St. Louis was one of 11 men in the "b-a-g-s f-l-y f-r-e-e" commercial for Southwest.
A line of baggage handlers give a battle cry and then pull up their shirts to reveal chest painting that spells out "Bags fly free.” Eric is the "l" in f-l-y.
His parents, Jewell and Justin Holt, live in Gallatin. Jewell was the school nurse at Gallatin for 21 years. Eric and his wife Lisa and family live in Cottleville, Mo, which is just outside of St. Peters. Lisa said that Eric will be in at least two more commercials. He is also on radio and the internet at www.blogsouthwest to see all three commercials.
Jewell said Southwest used baggage handlers from various airports for the commercial spot. She said Eric took a little vacation to Southwest’s main office in Dallas, Texas, to film the commercial. It took about a week.
If you missed Eric, you’ll have a chance to catch him again at the Sweet 16 tournament this weekend.
You’ll have to look real fast to catch him, but you’ll get to see him about four times. Or you can go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK9xwJqjcJ4.
