Pattonsburg R-2 will hold a Scholastic book fair at the school library March 8-12. All purchases benefit the school.

BTC provides grant

BTC Board of Directors has given Pattonsburg R-2 a grant to improve instruction in the third and fourth grade classrooms. The grant will allow the school to purchase two smart boards $2,600; two wall mounts $578; two projectors $1,100; two ceiling mounts $260; two sets of cables $100; for a total of $4638.

The smart boards will be used to help engage students in active learning and help visual learners in the classroom. Student achievement on the MAP test should improve through the enhanced instruction.

Project Prom

April 24 is the date for this year’s junior-senior prom. Plans have begun for the 19th annual Project Prom. This is an after prom, drug and alcohol free lock-in provided by parents and Pattonsburg and surrounding community.

The activities involved in Project Prom include taking the students and their guests to Bethany or a surrounding town for bowling or roller skating immediately following the prom so that the committee can prepare the gym with the other activities for the reminder of the night. In the past those activities have included casino night, guitar hero, and karaoke. Last year’s activities included inflatable games like a jousting pit and sumo wrestling suits. Throughout the evening, donated and purchased prizes are given out. The kids usually have a great time, but it all comes with a price tag. That is where the school is asking for help.

Cash donations are always very much needed and appreciated. You may send those donations to BTC Bank, ATTN: Pattonsburg Project Prom, 114 Central Ave., Pattonsburg, Mo., 64670.

Another very important part of the evening is the door prizes that are given throughout the night. Following are some suggestions for the contributions you can make to help this year’s Project Prom be a success:

Restaurant gift certificates; college care packages (towels and soaps; plastic plates and cups; silverware; kitchen towels; canned goods; laundry baskets filled with detergents and laundry supplies; school supplies; gas cards; and gift cards.

You may contact Kathy Morris at 660-367-2192 or Jackie Emerson at 816-797-0133 with any questions concerning Project Prom.
