During the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held March 8, an ordinance authorized the city administrator to sign a maintenance agreement with Itron, Inc., to provide maintenance services for the meter reading equipment and software received first and second reading.

Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from Feb. 22 to March 8 with the following reports taken and tickets given: one recovered property; three burglaries; two property damage; one assault; one missing dog; one welfare check; one tampering with witness; one medical assist; three peace disturbances; one assist probation and parole; one violation of full order; one dog at large; one accident; one no city dog license; one harassment; one assist Daviess County; one business burglary alarm; one motorist assist; one suspicious person; one hindering prosecution. There are no dogs in the pound.

Chief Richards stated that the Gallatin Police will be participating in the "Operation Safe Teen" statewide seat belt mobilization March 15-31. He said that all the dogs in the pound were transferred to other shelters in the city who will attempt to adopt them out.

Bills in the amount of $168,603.25 were approved for payment.

Mr. Johnson said City Clerk Autumn Acree created a spreadsheet for the Park Board, which will hopefully help them have a better understanding of their finances.

Dave Malone with DeWaay Financial discussed refinancing options for the electric system certificates of participation. The board carried a motion to explore financing with DeWaay Financial.

Discussion was held on the Financial Review.

Mr. Johnson discussed issues at the well field. He is working on putting together a community survey. The water department is looking at purchasing a trailer for around $2,000.

Comments were made regarding driveway specifications to the city streets, water plant project, and block grants.

The board entered into closed session pursuant to hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting of employees.
