Responding to a well being check, which had been requested by a social worker, a deputy with the Caldwell County Sheriff Office discovered George H. Hobbs, 81, dead in his rural home from an apparent gunshot wound on Friday morning, Feb. 19.

Robert C. Hobbs, 48, was arrested that same Friday in Shawnee, Okla., on a probation violation warrant out of Livingston County. Mr. Hobbs, who lived with his father, was charged Monday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, a probation violation and one count of forgery.

Mr. Hobbs is being held in Oklahoma without bond, and, with extradition, could arrive into Missouri custody later in the week.

The case is being investigated by the Caldwell County sheriff’s department and the Northwest Major Case Squad.
