The Lady Bulldogs failed to hang with Maysville on Monday as the Lady Wolverines earned a semifinal berth through a 59-27 victory.

Maysville took control in the opening quarter to lead, 19-6. Gallatin scored only six points in the second half, all coming in the final period.

Top GHS scorers were Ashley Beck with nine and Ashley Owens with eight points.

Gallatin’s boys trailed by one point at the half but couldn’t hold the pace in the second half as the Princeton Tigers sprinted to a 59-46 win. The Tigers used a 34-22 second half surge to ice the game and advance to the semifinal round against top-seeded Hamilton.

Vince Wiley canned five treys on his way to 19 points in his final GHS game. Senior Casey Alden added 10 for the Bulldogs.

District semifinals on Wednesday feature Hamilton’s top-seeded girls against Tarkio and Maysville’s girls against St. Joseph Christian.

Thursday’s boys games find a pair of state-ranked teams looking to avoid upsets in order to meet in Saturday’s championship. Hamilton, the #1 ranked team in Class 2, meets Princeton in the early game. Mid-Buchanan, the #4 team in Class 2, faces Tarkio in the late contest.

District 16 winners will face District 15 opponents on Wednesday in sectional action at Trenton’s Ketcham Center. Wellington-Napoleon’s unbeaten and #3 ranked boys are the heavy favorite in D15, along with Orrick’s 23-2 girls.
