The Dance Company of Gallatin recently traveled with part of their team members to the sophisticated regional dance competition, held at the Folly Theater in Kansas City.
The new tap group "Blue Moon" took the stage for the first time ever in the seven to eight-year-old age division. The group received a sophisticated gold and a special judges’ award in regards to the difficult tap technique for their age.
Tap group members include Macie McNeely, Dariyn Pettit, Brianna Filley, McKenzie Gilreath, Haileigh Huff and Jayden Batson. The clogging duet of Haileigh Huff and McKenzie Gilreath received a sophisticated silver for their first time ever being on the state as duet partners.
Jayden Batson was awarded a platinum for her tap solo "Good Golly Miss Molly." She also received an invitation for the national performance team in the Wildwood, NJ to dance, with other chosen dancers from all over the United Sates, on the boardwalk during the sophisticated national dance competition.
Veteran competition members Annie Nelson and Aubrey Nelson also received invitations for the National performance team for 2010. Annie won an adjudicated gold and Aubrey a sophisticated gold on their clogging solos. Aubrey also won a special judges’ award for her clogging and overall solo performance.
The Dance Company will take their full team to compete in late March at the Talent on Parade regional dance competition in Des Moines, Iowa. The dance company is owned and operated by Vera Nelson.
