A board member read a copy of Missouri Revised Statutes Chapter 90, Section 90.550 regarding Parks and Recreation. The statute talks about who controls expenditures of money collected to the credit of the park fund.

According to the Park Board Secretary Deanna Swalley, several park board members attended the Feb. 22 meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen and were told that the money was moved to another bank because the city’s accounting software will not allow the use of two banks.

City Administrator Zac Johnson said the city does the park’s bookkeeping and writes their checks. He said the city aldermen approved the change of banks and moving the funds was a necessary step to be able to account for the money properly.

"There seemed to be some confusion about how the city’s accounting system works," he said. "The city will work with the park board to have a better understanding of the financial reports and transactions."
