Olen Salmon of Bethany will be celebrating his 90th birthday on Feb. 8.
He was born near McFall and has lived in that community most of his life. He graduated from the McFall High School in 1938 and in 1939 he married Virginia Stratton. They just recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.
They were partners in farming for over 50 years and raised their two children, Gary and Linda, there. Olen was a seed distributor for Northrup King for several years. He enjoyed working in his garden, helping his church with various activities, playing cards, watching basketball games, and telling a good joke.
His grandchildren are Stephanie (Clint) Cole and sons, Wes and Gabe, and grandson, Will (Natalie); and daughters, Kailey, Karley and Kallie.
Olen is a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and his family wishes him a terrific 90th birthday. A family celebration is being planned. Cards may be sent to 1305 S. 9th St., Bethany, Mo., 64424.
There once was a man from McFall/Who sold seed and farmed spring and fall./He soon will be ninety,/He lives clean and tidy,/And he’s loved by his family all!
