The January Daviess County Genealogical Society (DCGS) meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Sheriff’s Home of the Squirrel Cage Jail.
Dave Stark, Daviess County historian, will be speaking about the tragedy and murder linked to a Civil War revolver which is on display at the Squirrel Cage Jail.
The DCGS Resource Center continues to expand and congratulations are extended to the Tree Climbers at Pattonsburg for their work on their history book. The DCGS looks forward to its completion.
The Daviess County Genealogical Society serves all of Daviess County, and although the meeting is in Gallatin, the resources and researching includes all of the communities in the county. This resource is a much needed one as is apparent by the continued growth of the membership by those living out of our area. Their quarterly newsletter, The Daviess Diggin’s, can also be found in the Mid-Continent Genealogical Library in Kansas City.
Researchers from as far away as Virginia, California and Alaska, have contacted DCGS about their family’s history. To learn how to begin or to learn more about researching your family’s history, you are invited to attend the meeting this Saturday. For more information contact President Lanita Sconce Smith at [email protected] or 660-684-6174 evenings.
