Gallatin took the girls’ contest, 53-39, and put the boys’ game in the win column by a 53-31 margin.

Albany’s girls jumped to an 11-5 lead but couldn’t maintain the pace as the Lady Bulldogs closed to 12-9 at the end of the first quarter, thanks to a pair of baskets by Ashley Beck.

Jamie Brinnen scored off a low post feed to give Gallatin its first lead at 13-12. The Lady Warriors struggled from the field and went over six minutes without a field goal. The lead changed hands four times in the second period before Becca Mott cashed in from the field and Brinnen hit a chip in off a Beck feed.

Gallatin slowly pulled away in the second half with a 16-11 advantage in the third quarter and an 18-12 surge down the stretch.

Brinnen and Carly Boyd each notched 14 points for Gallatin. Beck finished with 12.

Boys

In a similar scenario to the girls’ contest, Albany’s boys took leads of 7-1 and 10-3 off the opening tip but couldn’t keep the momentum.

The Bulldogs pulled to within 12-10 at the close of the first quarter and took a 24-18 lead at the break following six lead changes in the second.

Gallatin doubled the score on the visitors late in the third period when Donovan Stout hit back-to-back field goals and Derrick Lin nailed two free throws to up the lead to 40-21.

Following a Lin steal and layup, and Brandon Hunt three-point play, Gallatin led 48-21 early in the final quarter. The Bulldogs owned a 45-11 scoring advantage over the Warriors since the middle of the opening period.

Colton Selby’s steady production helped lead the way for the Bulldogs and produced a game-high 18 points. Lin finished with nine points and Logan Henderson came off the bench to add six points for Gallatin.

Following this week’s Hamilton Tournament, Gallatin teams put their 2-0 records on the line when they travel to Worth County for makeup games on Monday, Feb. 1. The Bulldogs will also play at Hamilton on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
