Gallatin’s boys turned a four-point deficit into a four-point lead with a 10-2 surge late in Tuesday night’s Grand River Conference opener and rallied to beat visiting Polo, 68-64.

The Panthers controlled the tempo with two minutes left to play but a drive and layup by Colton Selby, followed by a three-pointer from Vince Wiley, put the Dogs back in front for the first time in several minutes.

Casey Alden hit two free throws to put his team in front, 66-61. A three-point play by Polo’s Dalton Mills close the cap to a single possession, but Wiley canned a pair of foul shots with 16 seconds remaining to ice the game. Selby finished with a career-high 33 points for Gallatin. Wiley, with four treys, broke into double figures with 18 points.

Gallatin’s girls broke open a close game in the third quarter with a 19-10 run and surged to a 20-point lead before settling for a 68-53 victory over the Lady Panthers. Ashley Owens led a balanced GHS offensive attack with 22 points. Ashley Beck finished with 14, Carly Boyd totaled 13 and Jamie Brinnen added 11 for the Lady Bulldogs.
