During their regular meeting held on Jan. 11, Chief of Police Mark Richards told the Gallatin Board of Aldermen that a total of 167 case/report numbers were drawn for 2009, which is consistent with past years.

There were 160 summons sent to the city prosecutor for 2009 and approximately 188 traffic stops in 2009. He noted that there was an annual inspection of the pound conducted by the Department of Agriculture on Dec. 15. No major issues were found.
Chief Richards reported on activity from Dec. 29 to Jan. 11 with the following reports taken and tickets given: 1 assist HPD DFS; one burglary; one domestic dispute; one theft; one possession of a controlled substance; one warrant arrest; two peace disturbance; three traffic accidents; one harassment/stalking. There are four dogs in the pound.
Chief Richards also gave an update on condemnations.
Bills in the amount of $154,386.17 were approved for payment.

Mr. Johnson stated that on the city’s annual operating permit for the wastewater treatment plant DNR has implemented some new testing requirements, which required the city to purchase a composite sampler that cost about $6,000.
Mr. Johnson discussed complaints regarding snow removal. Several people have complained about snow build up at the end of the driveways caused by the snowplows. The city apologizes for the inconvenience but is not responsible for the clean-up of individual driveways or parking lots.
Comments by aldermen were made regarding home energy audits.
The board entered into closed session pursuant to hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting of employees.
Discussion was held on the overall efficiency of the city.
