Adair County has removed all inmates from the Pattonsburg facility because their judges felt it was too far away, according to minutes from the regular meeting of the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail held Oct. 30.

The financial report, aging report and budget message were read by David Tolen and approved by the board.
Sales tax income of $73,651.88 was reported for October. Year to date on sales tax income is $569,352.27. Sales tax checking account has $267,031.47 in the account with a six month CD for $800,000 and a six month CD for $475,000 at BTC Bank, for a total of $1,542,031.47.
The commissary grossed $12,232.22.
Swansons’ income was $228.85.
The jail’s operating account balance is $157,269.99 with a six month CD of $300,000 at BTC Bank, for a total of $457,269.99.
Since January, Daviess County has saved $327,750 on inmate housing and DeKalb County has saved $441,630.
The aging report showed an outstanding balance of $2,160.
The jail’s guard shack is ready for operation.
Seasonal flu shots for inmates were available the first week of November.
Sheriff Ben Becerra has not heard from Wyandotte County at this time.
SRI Roofing was scheduled to come in November.
A motion was made to close an inactive account and transfer it to the operating count.
During new business, it was noted that Larry Hadley, jail administrator, was at training to be a training instructor.
The board discussed a counselor for the jail and decided that at this time there is not need for a counselor onsite.
Sheriff Ben Becerra brought up complaints from inmates family members. The board discussed these issues. He also brought up an idea of an investigator again. The board agreed the jail still needs an investigator but it is not financially feasible. The issue will be discussed again in January 2010 at budget time.
