Gallatin R-V School District had five students perform in the Northwest District Bands on Dec. 12, at Platte County High School in Platte City. There are three District Bands: Junior High/ Middle School, Concert Band, and the Honor Band.

Melinda Hess, an eighth grader at Gallatin High, sat 11th chair clarinet in the Junior High Band. Chad Robertson, a freshman, sat second chair clarinet. Michael Youd, a sophomore, sat fourth chair trombone and E.J. Owings, a freshman, sat fifth chair tuba in the Concert band. Jamie Brinnen, a senior, sat first chair E flat contra-alto clarinet in the Honor Band.

Jamie also received $500 from the Fuchs Scholarship. Jamie was selected based on her musical abilities, but also an essay that she wrote about what music meant to her. Jamie will be performing with the All-State on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach. This is the second year in a row to receive this honor.
