City Administrator Zac Johnson and Jason Mercer, water plant operator, met with Doug Schulte of Snyder & Associates during the regular meeting for the City of Gallatin held Nov. 23. The meeting was in regards to changes Mr. Mercer wants to make at the existing water plant to keep it running for the next two years until a new plant would come online.

Mr. Schulte will also be preparing a cost estimate on a lime softening water plant.
Mr. Johnson stated that the city’s application has been submitted to USDA for the new water plant project.
Public comments were made regarding Christmas decorations around the square.
Teddy Holcomb stated that all the employees have been working on the water plant.
Chief of Police Mark Richards reported on activity from Nov. 9-23 with the following reports taken/tickets given: one domestic disturbance; one illegal parking; two trespassing; one recovered stolen vehicle; one stolen plates; three animal complaints; three speeding. There are seven dogs in the pound.
Chief Richards told the board that the police department participated in an occupant protection enforcement that included safety belt enforcement. The police department was notified they had been approved for $6,233.27 in grant funding through the 2010 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program.
Bills in the amount of $70,152.02 were approved for payment.
Discussion was held on a water issue on East Richardson.
An ordinance accepting the proposal from Tekcollect for collection services received a first and second reading.

Mr. Johnson discussed December’s meetings. Next month’s meeting will be on Dec. 14 and 29 at city hall.
Comments by aldermen were made regarding Gallatin becoming a non-smoking community.
Mayor Barb Ballew reminded everyone that Christmas in the Park will be this Saturday Nov. 28. She discussed arranging a Christmas dinner for city employees.
The board entered into closed session pursuant to hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting of employees.
