A Kidder grandmother and granddaughter were injured in an accident that happened at about 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 4, in Caldwell County.

The accident occurred as Deborah Birchell was eastbound on Rt. J. She fell asleep and the 2006 Kia Sorento she was driving went off the left side of the roadway. The left rear of the Kia struck a road sign, skidded east, and struck a ditch. The Kia then traveled over Rt. TT and off the east side and struck a second ditch, where it came to rest on its wheels.
Mrs. Birchell, 48, received moderate injuries, and a passenger, her granddaughter, Madison Birchell, 6, received minor injuries in the accident. They were taken by Cameron Ambulance Service to Cameron Regional Medical Center. They were wearing their safety devices.
The Kia received moderate damage.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. M.S. Belshe, assisted by Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department and KAW Fire Department.
