The health department had available H1N1 Flu Mist for healthy two to 49-year-olds and H1N1 injectable vaccine for four to 18-year-olds and 19 to 64-year-olds with chronic medical conditions. The H1N1 vaccine is provided by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) to help prevent the spread of H1N1 (or swine) flu in those most susceptible, such as small children and young adults. The health department also had a limited supply of seasonal flu vaccine for children in the mist or injectable provided by the vaccine for children program ages six months to 18-year-olds. Administrator Cheryl Alexander said they still have the H1N1 Flu Mist available but they are very limited on their other vaccines due to the demand they have had this year. Please call the health department for more information at 660-663-2414. The Daviess County Health Department nurses remind you to please remember to use good hand washing and if you suspect you have the flu stay home.
