A Gallatin man received moderate injuries when the combine he was driving overturned onto a car, according to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Livingston County. Ricky Curtis, 54, was westbound on Hwy. 190, 10 miles west of Chillicothe, driving an International 1440 combine. He traveled up a steep hill, reached the top, and lost power. The combine rolled backwards on the north shoulder of Hwy. 190 and eventually overturned onto its side, striking the front of a 1999 Cadillac, being driven westbound by Jane Sweany, 69, Chillicothe. The combine came to rest on the driver’s side, facing west on the north edge of Hwy. 190. The Cadillac moved prior to the officer’s arrival.

Mr. Curtis was taken by Chillicothe Medical Services to Hedrick Medical Center.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. B.N. Raney, assisted by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Conservation.

Three accidents have occurred recently north of Winston, according to reports by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Robert Bourne of Ames, Iowa, received serious injuries in an accident that occurred at about 6:40 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, in Daviess County.

Mr. Bourne was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry northbound in the passing lane of I-35, four miles north of Winston. The vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway, stuck a guardrail, and came to rest on its wheels, facing northbound in the median.

Mr. Bourne was taken by Lifenet to Heartland Regional Medical Center.

The vehicle was totaled.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. B.E. Maudlin, assisted by Sgt. M.A. Ott, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Daviess County Ambulance and K.A.W. Fire.

A Boone, Iowa, woman received moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at about 6:05 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, in Daviess County.

The accident happened when Patricia King, 49, Boone, Iowa, was traveling southbound on I-35 about four miles northwest of Winston. Her 1991 Dodge Shadow traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, and began to overturn. The vehicle came to rest on its top, facing north in a ditch.

Mrs. King and a passenger in the vehicle, Vernon King, 48, Boone, Iowa, were both taken by Daviess County Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center. Vernon King’s injuries were listed as minor. They were both wearing their seat belts.

The vehicle was totaled.

The accident was investigated by Trp. B.E. Maudlin, assisted by Sgt. M.A. Wilhoit, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and KAW Fire.

Two teenagers were injured in an accident that happened at about 12 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, in Daviess County. The accident occurred as Rachel Bird, 18, Winston, was eastbound on Ridge Avenue three miles northwest of Winston. Her vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway, struck a fence, and overturned onto its wheels south of the roadway.

Rachel and a passenger in the 1995 GMC, Dustin Vacha, 16, Kansas City, both received minor injuries. They were taken by Daviess County Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center. Both were wearing their seatbelts.

The GMC was totaled.
