A groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held on Oct. 13, at the site. Construction will begin immediately, with an estimated 15- to 18-month construction period, making the new hospital ready for occupancy in early 2011.

The proposal includes a new 59,095 sq. ft. hospital, along with an adjoining medical office building of approximately 12,000 sq. ft. The two buildings will be connected, which will allow patients at the doctors’ offices to walk easily to the hospital for tests and laboratory work. As a critical access hospital, the facility will be licensed for 25 patient beds, all single-patient rooms with private bath facilities. This inpatient area is designed for both medical/surgical and obstetric patients. Other areas will be dedicated to outpatient clinics, cardiac rehab, physical and occupational therapy, as well as surgery, imaging and sleep studies. The new hospital will implement electronic medical records instead of paper records, which fulfills future hospital requirements.

The Wright Memorial Hospital Foundation will be hosting a capital campaign for raising funds for needed equipment in the new facility. Wright Memorial Hospital is owned by the Wright Trust for which Citizens Bank & Trust Company is trustee. The hospital is a member of the Saint Luke’s Health System which leases the hospital from the Trust and operates it under an operating agreement with the Trust.
