Funeral services for Art Turley Sr. were held Saturday, Oct. 10, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gallatin. Arrangements were by McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was at Grand River Cemetery near Jameson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Active Aging Resource Center in Gallatin, in care of the Funeral Home.

Arthur Austin Turley Sr. died on Oct. 5, 2009.

Mr. Turley was born on April 10, 1931, in Woodruff, Ariz., to Ivan and Maude Brady Turley. He was married to Aletha Gibbons on Nov. 10, 1952 in Mesa, Ariz. To their union were born 13 children. The family has lived in Arizona, Iowa, Idaho, Utah and finally Missouri, where Art and Aletha retired in Jameson in 1996.

Mr. Turley served as chairman of the board on the Jameson Community Development Committee for several years. He volunteered at the Daviess County Active Aging Resource Center, where he served on the board, delivered meals on wheels and committed his time to helping with any project he was asked to do. He was also the director of the History Center at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gallatin.

Mr. Turley was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of almost 57 years, Aletha Turley, and his 13 children: Arteta Argueta of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; Shere’e Martin of Nampa, Idaho; Mike of West Jordan, Utah; David of Bountiful, Utah; Austin of Rockland, Idaho; Danny of West Valley, Utah; Curtis of Midvale, Utah; Raymond of Centerville, Utah; Matthew of Gallatin; Mark of Shelbyville, Ken..; Lori Brown of Shelbyville, Ken.; Amy Haro of West Valley, Utah; and Joseph of Shelbyville, Ken.; one sister, Joyce Bartlett of Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers, Thad of Mesa, Ariz.; and Ronnie of North Carolina; 66 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
