Where was Judy Tate when the widows of car dealers were riding in the Chautauqua parade?
The Gallatin Motor Company represented by three generations, Joe Tate, Hubert Tate and Steve Tate, was the longest existing dealership in Daviess County, having been in business for 65 years.
They had the largest payroll and the largest number of employees — all local people — in the county, unless maybe the cap factory.
There has been, I believe, as many as five or six car dealers in Gallatin at one time through the years. To name a few, Roy Moore, Hays Hiatt and Art Kordes.
I write this as I was one of those GMC employees for 30 some years!
