Despite the fact that their bats came alive over the course of the last two games, Gallatin’s girls absorbed a pair of one-run losses, including Tuesday’s 10-9 setback to King City in their final contest on the Grand River Conference slate.

The Lady Bulldogs, who fell to 3-6 in the conference, chalked up double digit hits against the Lady Wildkats and three different players drove in two runs but it wasn’t enough.

Carly Boyd went 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and two rbi. Megan Beck singled twice, scored and drove in a pair. Celsie Baker also singled twice and scored twice. Savannah Butcher singled, doubled, scored and run and produced two rbi.

Shelby Chadwick doubled and scored twice. Ashley Burns drove in two runs with a single. Ashley Owens singled and plated a run.

East Buchanan came out on top, 4-3, in a non-conference tilt on Monday. Chadwick doubled and scored a run for the Lady Bulldogs. Kylie Cameron’s home run drove in a pair. Megan Beck contributed a pair of singles to the GHS attack.

The Lady Bulldogs came through with a 2-1 record and second place finish in Saturday’s Hamilton Tournament.

Chadwick’s double was the only GHS hit in a 5-0 loss to Hamilton. Gallatin rebounded with a 10-3 victory over Norborne and 11-7 win over North Platte.

Chadwick doubled and hit a solo homer against Norborne. Butcher ripped three singles and scored twice. Owens singled twice and scored. Boyd singled and scored twice. Beck and McNeely each singled and scored a run and Burns came home once.

In the victory over North Platte, Boyd tripled along with a pair of singles and scored three times. Chadwick singled and homered again while scoring twice. Beck had a pair of hits and runs scored. Owens singled twice and scored. McNeely singled and scored and Cameron scored one run.

Gallatin fell to Hamilton, 12-3, in league action last Thursday. Boyd led off Gallatin’s half of the first inning with a triple and scored on an overthrow at third when Lady Hornet catcher Jill Lucas tried to catch her off the bag.

Burns singled in the hole at shortstop in the fifth inning to account for the only other GHS hit in the game.

Gallatin travels to St. Joseph to compete in the Benton Tournament on Saturday. The district tournament, to be held in Bethany, begins Oct. 7.
