Funeral services for Edythe Hunter were held Saturday, Sept.19, at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany, with burial in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany.

Edythe (Fitzwater) Hunter, 87, of Albany, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at an Albany hospital.
Edythe, the daughter of Elmer and Mary (Padgett) Fitzwater, was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Watonga, Okla.
On May 21, 1948, Mrs. Hunter was united in marriage to Russell G. Hunter.
She was a graduate of Lineville, Iowa, High School and graduated with her master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University.
Mrs. Hunter started her teaching career in Elmo and Gasconade, and Percival, Iowa, then taught for 31 years in New Hampton before retiring.
She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church and UMW, the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Rabbit Ridge Women’s Club, and the Grand River Art Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Russell "Pete" Hunter of the home; two sons, Steve Hunter, Joplin, and Mark Hunter, McFall, one daughter, Janet Weber, Lenexa, Kan.; one sister, Pauline Garnett, Lebanon; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
