Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs broke a five-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 12-3 victory over Worth County, that also brought the Lady Bulldogs their first win in Grand River Conference play.
Lady Bulldog bats exploded in the win. Shelby Chadwick went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two driven in. Megan Beck, Savannah Butcher and Ashley Burns each had a pair of hits. Beck scored three runs and drove in one. Burns tripled, scored and contributed a pair of rbi. Butcher also scored a run.
Ashley Owens tripled in three plate appearances and scored three runs. Kylie Cameron and Becca Mott each drove in a run. Marissa McNeely scored a run.
The Lady Bulldogs fell to Mid-Buchanan, 3-2, Monday after leaving the tying run on third base in the final inning.
Gallatin took a 1-0 lead in the first when Owens singled and Chadwick doubled her home. That lead held up until the top of the fourth when the Lady Dragons pushed across a pair of runs. Mid-Buchanan used a string of seeing-eye hits in the sixth to add another run.
Chadwick singled to open Gallatin’s half of the seventh. A sacrifice bunt by Kylie Cameron moved her to second. Megan Beck hit a grounder to shortstop and Chadwick slid under the tag at third on a close play. Savannah Butcher went down swinging but the ball eluded the catcher and Chadwick was able to score on the play.
Lady Dragon pitcher Blair Ussary struck out the final batter to preserve the win for her team.
Gallatin rallied with one run in the seventh inning last Thursday but fell to Stanberry, 6-5, in league action. Gallatin led, 1-0, after the first inning, but fell behind, 5-2, after four innings.
Owens double, tripled and scored three runs for Gallatin. Boyd hat three hits and three runs batted in. Megan Beck singled with a run batted in.
The Lady Bulldogs, now 4-7 on the season, travel to Albany on Thursday, Lawson on Monday and Polo next Tuesday.
