Funeral services for Mamie Litton were held Monday at Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial was at South Lineville Cemetery, Mercer County. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, 64601.

Mamie Lee Litton, 97, Chillicothe, died Aug. 28, 2009.
Miss Litton was born March 5, 1912, in Mercer County, the daughter of Mamie (Ranes) Litton and Anderson Dishman Litton. After her mother’s death, shortly after her birth, she was reared by her maternal grandparents, George W. Ranes and his wife Matilda Ann Ranes on a farm near Lock Springs.
She graduated from Lock Springs High School in 1929. Shea attended Stephens College in Columbia and the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. She resided with her father on a farm near Freedom, Okla., until they moved back to Missouri in 1934.
Miss Litton was a member of Lock Springs United Methodist Church until it closed in 2001. Her membership was then moved to Mt. Olive United Methodist Church.
After her father’s death in 1956, Miss Litton moved from the farm to Lock Springs, residing there until moving to Chillicothe in 1997.
Survivors include longtime caregiver, Peggy Wickizer, Marshall; cousin, Victor Litton, Lock Springs; and several other cousins.
