Funeral services for Georgia Olney will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, at Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be at Utica Cemetery, Utica. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, at the funeral home. Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Utica Cemetery and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, Mo., 64601.
Georgia Gale Olney, 70, died at her home in Chillicothe on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, under the care of her family and Regional Care Hospice of Gallatin.
Mrs. Olney was born Sept. 6, 1938, in Gallatin, the daughter of William Emmett Shafer and Zella Mae Croy Shafer. She graduated from Gallatin High School in 1956.
On June 3, 1956, she married Francis Leroy Olney in the Baptist Church in Gallatin. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Olney worked for many years as a teacher’s aide for the Chillicothe School District.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Gallatin.
Mrs. Olney was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Nancy Shafer and Dorothy Brookshire.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy; two sons, Gerald Olney of Chillicothe, and James Olney of Stilwell, Kan.; two daughters, Sharon Epperson of Jefferson City, and Shirley Olney of Moberly; one brother, Billy Shafer of Winslow, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
