Funeral services for Ivan Earl Read were held Saturday, Aug. 15, at Roberson Funeral Home in Gilman City. Burial with military rites was in Pilot Grove No. 1 Cemetery of Gilman City. Ivan Earl Read, 88, Gilman City, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009.
Mr. Read was born April 20, 1921, in Daviess County, the son of Edward and Mary (House) Read.
On June 18, 1943, he married Blanche M. Read in Gallatin. She preceded him in death on Aug. 6, 2002.
Mr. Read was a farmer and he served with the Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Old Scotland Church of Christ.
Mr. Read was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Marie Pixley; brothers, Lewis Read, Loren Read and Lee Read.
Survivors include one son, Robert Read, Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters: Crystal Pasak, Derby, Kan., and Cheryl Whitt, Kansas City; one brother, Junior Read, Utah; one sister, Hattie Mae Pilcher, Jamesport; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
