Funeral services for Ivan Read will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Roberson Funeral Home in Gilman City. Burial with military rites will be in Pilot Grove #1 Cemetery of Gilman City. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Roberson Funeral Home, Gilman City. There is no scheduled family visitation. Ivan Earl Read, 88, Gilman City, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009.
He was born April 20, 1921, in Daviess County, the son of Edward and Mary (House) Read.
On June 18, 1943, he married Blanche M. Read in Gallatin. She preceded him in death on Aug. 6, 2002.
Mr. Read, a farmer, served with the Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Old Scotland Church of Christ.
Mr. Read was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Marie Pixley; brothers, Lewis Read, Loren Read and Lee Read.
Survivors include one son, Robert Read, Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Crystal Pasak, Derby, Kan., and Cheryl Whitt, Kansas City; one brother, Junior Read, Utah; one sister, Hattie Mae Pilcher, Jamesport; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
