Gallatin R-5 athletes and coaches were out early Monday morning getting to work in preparation for the opening of school and fall sports seasons. Despite a heavy rain, softball and football players were able to work their way through productive sessions under the direction of head coaches Casey Cole and Jeff White.
The GHS Booster Club will hold a pep rally at the GHS football field at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, to introduce fall squads and cheerleaders. The Bulldog football team will travel to Graceland University in Lamoni, Ia., on Friday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. to take part in a jamboree sponsored by South Harrison High School.
The Lady Bulldog softball team will open its season at Trenton (5 p.m.) on Aug. 24. Due to a low number of players this season, jayvee action will be limited to a couple of innings at home games.
Girls golf gets underway Aug. 26 at Stanberry.
