Superintendent Johnnie Silkett told the Pattonsburg R-2 Board of Education that school will start at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, during the regular meeting held Monday, July 20, at the high school library. Students may enter the building at 7:50 for the breakfast line.

Registration for grades 7-12 will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 4-5 in the commons. Seventh grade students and their parents will meet from 5-6 p.m. Aug. 17 for orientation in the gym. The seventh grade students and parents will be able to meet with Mr. Hodge, the new high school principal, and each teacher they will have in the upcoming year.

Elementary school students will have Meet the Teachers Night from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17. Students are asked to bring their school supplies that night.

Any player or cheerleader must have a health physical and proof of health/accident insurance before they can start practice. The school offers student insurance and these forms will be handed out the first practice. High school softball practice will start Monday, Aug. 10 with boys from 9-10:30 a.m. and girls from 10:30 am. to 12 noon.

In other business at the July 20 meeting, students were recognized by the board. Eight students and Mr. Snook went to FFA Camp Rising Sun June 28. Eight officers and Mr. Snook went to Mozingo Lake for officer retreat. July 9-11 many of the officers worked the Daviess County Junior Livestock show.

High school and elementary handbooks were approved. Bids were approved for diesel – MFA (Bethany); bread – Hy-Vee (Bethany); waste removal – Veolia; and milk A&E.

The board adopted eligibility for free/reduced meals for 2009-2010.

Bus routes were approved.

Breakfast and lunch prices for the 2009-2010 school year were approved. They remained the same as last semester. Breakfast is $1 at the elementary and $1.25 at the high school and $2 for adults. Reduced breakfast is 30 cents at the elementary and high school. Lunch is $1.50 at the elementary, $1.75 at the high school and $2.75 for adults. Reduced lunch is 40 cents at elementary and high school.

Bills were approved for payment.

The board approved membership to MARE. Transportation services (vo-tech) were approved.

Heating and cooling repair and maintenance were approved for "Hutch’s Heating and Cooling."

The date for the Tax Rate Hearing was set for 7 p.m. on Aug. 17. The regular board meeting will follow at 7:20 pm.
