James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported that they will be installing a metal culvert in Salem Township this week.

Bills were audited and paid.

The contract with Copeland Development and Construction for re-wiring the courthouse were reviewed and accepted.

Jerry Frost, Frost Insurance, met with the commission regarding the roofing of the county buildings as a result of hail damage.

Gary Holcomb, Marion Township, met with the commission concerning brush problems in that township. The Commission will investigate.

At 10 a.m., as advertised, the commission adjourned to meet as Board of Equalization with all members present.

Gerald Estes met with the board with a complaint that his assessment was too high on a new house in Grand River Township. The house was assessed by square footage. Danny Heldenbrand moved to leave the assessment as originally assessed. David Cox seconded, and the motion was unanimously approved. Other board members casting votes were Lance Critten, Jesse Bird and Mark Hemry.

Jack Willis met with the board regarding his house assessment in Salem Township. He disagreed with the square footage. Danny Heldenbrand moved to leave the assessment the same. David Cox seconded, and the motion was unanimously approved.

Bob Burnett, Snyder and Associates, met with the commission for a pre-construction hearing with the Decker Construction representatives on project BRO 30. Also in attendance were Windstream representatives. Construction is due to be completed within 90 days, and they plan to move equipment in this week. The contract was executed.

In the afternoon, the Commission inspected a road problem with a landowner in Harrison Township.

Sheriff’s Office

Terry Lee Hall, 30, Kansas City, was arrested July 26 at Lake Viking for possession of controlled substance, class C felony, possession of firearm while intoxicated, class D felony, and three misdemeanors, DWI, possession of marijuana and trespassing. He is being held on $35,000 bond.

Albert Buckler, 42, Jamesport, was arrested July 27 for misdemeanor domestic assault, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. He is being held on $5,000 bond.

Jeffrey Newton, 30, Kansas City, was arrested July 26 for misdemeanor DWI. He was processed, held for 12-hour detoxification and released.

Alicia Gardner, 37, Hamilton was arrested July 25 for misdemeanor DWI and careless and imprudent driving. She posted $750 bond.

Associate Circuit Court

Andrew McBroom, Gallatin, and Shannon A. Easton, McFall, were each charged with one felony count of passing bad checks on July 27.

Defendants found guilty in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County are listed below with the offense and fine assessed. Additionally, court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $68.50 for moving traffic violations and $116.50 in most criminal cases.

Jonathon B. Woods, Trenton, driving while revoked amended to no valid license, 48 hours jail, board bill paid by defendant, $150 fine.

Robert M. Allee, Kansas City, possession of marijuana, five days jail, board bill paid by defendant; possession of paraphernalia, $150.

Terri L. Hocker, Gallatin, probation violation on original charge of endangering welfare of a child, probation revoked, sentence executed, 30 days jail.

Jeff A. Wing, Kansas City, failed to tag deer, $98.

Linda Nyakundi, St. Paul, Minn., no valid license, $150.

Elijah J. Knowles, Pattonsburg, domestic assault amended to class A misdemeanor third degree, suspended imposition of sentence, two years probation, 60 hours community service.

Judge James Valbracht presided over the following case: Jan. T. Rasmussen, Ames, Iowa, DWI, 10 days jail, board bill paid by defendant; no valid license, $150 fine.

Traffic Fines

The following are traffic cases which were heard in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment by mail of the standard fine plus court costs. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $804.50 for 18 cases. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $870 for 13 cases. Court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $58.50 for moving traffic violations. Missouri defendants, offenses and fines are listed below:

Ashley M. Elliott, Liberty, no insurance, $103.50 and no seat belt, $10.

Karen Henderson, Coffey, speeding, $58.50 and no seat belt, $10.
