Barbara Ritcherson, 56, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at North Kansas City Hospital. Services were held Saturday, July 25 at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the Gallatin First Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
Barbara was born Dec. 17, 1952 to Wayne and Ruby (Creekmore) Teel in Gallatin. Barbara was baptized at an early age. She graduated from Gallatin High School in 1971 and was later united in marriage to Howard Worthey, of this union two children were born, Greg and Randy Worthey. Barbara was a stay at home mom spending every day taking care of her boys. She moved to Texas in 1986 and on July 3, 1986 Barbara was united in marriage to Tom Ritcherson in Richmond, Texas. The couple made their home in Missouri City, Texas until moving back to Gallatin in 1990 to be near family and friends.
Barbara was an avid collector of Coca Cola collectibles and loved to add to her collections. Being a breast cancer survivor she was always eager to participate in charity walks for cancer, a cause that was near and dear to her heart. Barbara was an avid racing fan and looked forward to the Saturday racing events. She spend much of her time helping other people and putting their needs first. Her deep appreciation of family and friends and the ability to go the extra mile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her sisters, Mickey Moulton and Janet Gabbard and brother, Rick Teel.
Survivors include her husband, Tom, of the home; children Greg Worthy, Houma, La., Randy Worthey, Shauvin, La., Clifford and Tina Ritcherson, Daniel and Scotty Gabbard all of Kansas; parents, Wayne and Ruby Teel of Gallatin; brothers, Jimmy and Donald Teel of Gallatin, Terry Teel of Coffey; sisters, Sandy Dickson of Gallatin, Debbie Freeman of Chillicothe, her special friend Kandy Owen of Maysville. Barbara has 14 grandchildren and a host of friends.
